GREAT POND – Clarence A. Moore Sr., 91, formerly of North Bath died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Lisbon, a son of Walter and Nellie Moore and was educated in the Lisbon schools. On March 25, 1939, he married Ethel G. Seavey and they made their home in North Bath, moving to Great Pond in 1981. Mr. Moore worked at the Bath Iron Works for 40 years as a machinist and on the BIW Fire Dept., retiring in 1976. He also did backhoe work, butchering, and dowsing in Bath and Great Pond. He was a member of the Polar Star Lodge of Masons in Bath, was the oldest new member at age 89 of Bath Shriners Anah Temple, and the Eagle’s of Brewer. He enjoyed riding his Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles, hunting, fishing, gardening, opening his home up every year for his hunter’s parties where his family played music. He took great pride in his family and being with them. He was a pilot in his early years and was Constable of Great Pond for many years. He was predeceased by a son, Clarence A. Moore Jr.; three grandchildren, James Cressey, Jennifer Moore, and Joseph McCole; three sisters; and four brothers. Surviving are his wife of 66 years; three sons, Frank W. Moore of Bath, Harry C. and his wife, Elaine Moore, of Dracut, Mass., and William E. and his wife, Carol Moore, of Bath; two daughters, Beverly A. Moore of Aurora and Janice V. Moore of Great Pond; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High St., Bath, with a Polar Star Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gregory Vinson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
