BREWER – Clarence Chester Weston, 99, husband of the late Gladys Mildred (Williamson) Weston, died on Dec. 24, 2003, at a Bangor nursing facility. He was born on July 30, 1904, in Camden, the youngest of four children of William and Anne M (Coate) Weston. A life-long resident of Brewer, Clarence worked for L.H. Thompson for 66 years, finally retiring in 1992 at the age of 88. He drove an automobile once, in the driveway of his Getchell Street home, ultimately preferring the relative easy of operation and low maintenance of his one speed bicycle to navigate around the greater Bangor-Brewer area. Clarence was predeceased by his wife of 70 years; and his daughter, Beatrice D. Rice. He is survived by one daughter, Thelma Weston Sweet of Holden; eight grandchildren, Brian A. MacFarland of Prospect, Pamela J. Bull of Eddington, Bonita S. Clark (John) of Holden, Diane L. Wain (Raymond) of East Corinth, James E. Rice III of Terre Haute, Ind., Karen L. Rice of Brewer, Kathy L. Rice of Orrington, and Dawn M. Drew (Tracey) of Eddington; 12 great-grandchildren, Erin, Michael, Jeffrey, James, Anna, Kaila, Kara, Karissa, Jaime, Santana, Kenneth and Keith; and two great-great-grandchildren, Dustin and Spencer. He is also survived by Ian L. Bockus of Prospect, Phyllis Healey of Brewer; his son-in-law, James E. Rice Jr. of Bangor; as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Maine St., Brewer. The funeral will be at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, with the Rev. Mary Ann Taylor and the Rev. Elizabeth Vernon officiating. Spring interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, following the service Saturday.
