VAN BUREN – Claude J. Madore, 86, died Sept. 1, 2004, at a Van Buren healthcare facil-ity after a long illness. He was born in Van Buren, July 14, 1918, the son of Arthur and Melvina (Ouellette) Madore. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. Claude had a passion for gardening, woodworking and riding in the North Maine woods with his good friend, Bill. He was a fervent Catholic, attending daily Mass at his parish of St. Bruno-St. Remi for 20 years. His devotion to his family and all who came in contact with him will be memorable. Claude will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia (Dubay) Madore of Van Buren; seven sons, Lorne Madore and his wife, Diane, David J. Madore, Jim Madore and his wife, Lita, and Larry Madore, all of Van Buren, Glen Madore and his wife, Shari, of Natalia, Texas, Philip Madore and his wife, Kathy, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Rodney Madore and his wife, Julie, of Marlboro, Conn.; three daughters, Claudette Hutchins of Lewiston, Donna Fonseca and her husband, Daniel, of Wilton, Brenda Chasse and her husband, Jim, of Van Buren; one brother, Sylvio Madore of Presque Isle; two sisters, Aurore Willette of New Hampshire and Lorraine Guerrette of Massachusetts; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, John P. Madore in 1973; by two brothers, Leo A. Madore, and Raymond Madore; and by three sisters, Bertha Rodrique, Artheline Levasseur, and Yvonne Roberge. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, 11 a.m. Monday. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
