MARS HILL – Evelyn W. (Craig) Crouse, 98, died Aug. 31, 2004, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born Sept. 8, 1905, in Maysville, the daughter of Loren D. and Maude (Edwards) Craig. She attended the Hayford School and graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1924 and the Aroostook School of Accountancy. She was employed by the Merchant’s Trust and Banking Company and the M.S. Digwall Insurance Company and later as the bookkeeper at Crouse’s Wholesale Meats in Crouseville. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Joan Crouse of Millinocket; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Lou and Gerald Duncan of Hainesport, N.J.; three grandsons and spouses, Daniel and Martha, Dana and Sue and Timothy and Helena Crouse; two granddaughters, Cindy Jo and Debbie Crouse; three great-grandsons, Justin, Bryan and Andrew; and two great-granddaughters, Molly Kate and Lisa Evelyn Crouse. She is survived by one sister, Lora Libby of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Alden C. Crouse who died in 1996 in St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Clyde, Ivan and Ruel Craig; and three sisters, Reta Richie of Greenville, Erla Kierstead and Irene MacPherson, both of Presque Isle. A graveside service will be held at the Crouseville Cemetery 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, with Paul Blackstone officiating. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
