MADAWASKA – Claude Viel Sr., 84, died Feb. 20, 2007, at a Fort Kent hospital. He was born Feb. 5, 1923, in St. Francois de Madawaska, New brunswick, the son of Mathias and Leona (Dube) Viel. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Aline (Landry) Viel of Madawaska; two sons, Rino Viel and his wife, Nancy, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Claude Viel Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Ashford, Conn.; three daughters, Micheline Viel-Toledo and her husband, Rene’, of Foster City, Calif., Yveline Albert and her husband, Roger, of Marlboro, Conn., and Rinette Johnson and her husband, Norman, of Storrs, Conn.; two brothers, Paul and Alberic Viel, both of St. Francois, New Brunswick; four sisters, Alma Sirois of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Sr. Monica Viel of Baie St. Paul, Province of Quebec, Bertha Bosse of Millinocket and Regina Lagasse of Sudbury, Ontario; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Guy Viel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Thomas Church, Madawaska. Visiting hours will be held at Michaud Funeral Home, Frenchville. Friends and relatives may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the Michaud Funeral Home, Madawaska. Interment will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Madawaska, in the spring. Funeral arrangements conducted by Daigle Funeral Home, Madawaska.
