SANGERVILLE – Clayton J. Ambrose, 78, died Feb. 21, 2007, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Dexter, the son of Ovella and Adrian (Clukey) Ambrose. He graduated from N.H. Fay High School, and worked for many years as a trucker and later for Dexter Shoe. He was well known for his yard sales, enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by his wife, Lillie (Smith) Ambrose of Sangerville; five daughters and their husbands, Estelle and Monty Rowe of Corinth, Julie Washington of Dexter, Susan and Chuck Emery of Old Town, Lisa and Joel Pelletier of Passadumkeag and Mary and Ronald Sweet Jr. of Exeter; a special son, Chris Caruso and his wife, Michele, of Corinth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene Plourde of Skowhegan and Virginia and her husband, Richard Metivier, of Newport; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Caruso of Dover-Foxcroft, Rita Andrews and her husband, Calvin, of Atkinson and Nadine Chadbourne of Sangerville; a brother-in-law, Royal Smith Jr. of Atkinson; many nieces and nephews; special companion, his faithful dog, Casey. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Preble officiating.
