ROCKLAND – Clayton Benson, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at a local hospital after a long illness with cancer. No visiting hours will be held. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at First Baptist Church, 215 Limerock St., Rockland, with the Rev. Gabriel Rogers officiating. Interment with military honors will be afterward at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery, Rankin Street, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kno-Wal-Lin Home Health Care and Hospice, 170 Pleasant St., Rockland, ME 04841. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
