MONROE – Alwood T. Mit-chell Jr., 65, of Monroe, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. Born Feb. 23, 1941, in Camden, the son of Alwood T. Mitchell Sr. and Ida R. (Williams) Mitchell. He lived many of his youthful years in Searsmont and Appleton. He attended and graduated from Appleton High School in 1959. He later relocated to Windsor Locks, Conn., in 1965, where he worked as a mill worker for Dexter Corp. and Hamilton Standard Paper Mill for many years. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his loving mother, Ida R. (Williams) Mitchell of Monroe; his dear brother, Reginald D. Mitchell of Monroe; former wife and mother of his children, Lillian (Clements) Letourneau and her husband, John, of Dow, Okla.; daughter, Dawn Mitchell and her husband, Phillip “Bud” McCarthy, of Russell, Mass.; son, Alwood T. Mitchell III “Butch” and his wife, Chris, of Chester, Mass.; and daughter, Darlene and her husband, Edward Grove, of Southwick, Mass. In parting, he also leaves behind his grandchildren, Brandon, Stone and Arya Mitchell, Jonathon and Elizabeth Grove, along with many other cousins and relatives. A memorial graveside service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Harmony Place Cemetery, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to their favorite organizations in memory of Mr. Mitchell. Arrangements by Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
