CAMPOBELLO ISLAND, New Brunswick – Clayton E. Fletcher, 79, died Oct. 27, 2003, at a St. Stephen, New Brunswick hospital. He was born Feb. 29, 1924, at Head Harbor, Wilson’s Beach, Campobello Island, New Brunswick, the son of Roy and Gertrude (Lank) Fletcher. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and was a life member and past commander of the Stuart-Green Post No. 65 American Legion of Lubec. Clayton was predeceased by his wife, June (Cumberland) Fletcher; a brother, Raymond; two sisters, Roma Fletcher and Edna Daigle. Surviving are his daughter, Christine Ann Chute and her husband, Harvey, of Campobello, New Brunswick; two granddaughters, Rhonda Cook and her husband, Graham, and children, Heather Mitchell and her husband, Dennis, and children, all of Campobello, New Brunswick; two brothers, Sheldon Fletcher of Campobello, New Brunswick, Wilfred Fletcher of White Head, New Brunswick; one sister, Annie Curry of Marysville, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. (American time) Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Christian Temple Church, Lubec, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. (American time) Thursday, Oct. 30, with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery, Lubec. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, ME.
