BARING – Clayton Richard Cox died April 7, 2005, at the Calais hospital after a long battle with lung disease. Born and raised in the Woodland junction he is remembered by his friends and relatives as Ginxie or Uncle. He attended Woodland schools and enlisted into regular army and went to boot camp in Ft. Lenninwood, Mo. Clayton served at Westpoint, N.Y. during the Korean War. He had a special talent for mechanical repair and worked as an automotive mechanic and specialized in transmissions. Clayton was known for saying “if I’d have known that I was going to live this long I’d taken better care of myself”. He always asked the children in his life “what did you learn today?” he told them that it was a wasted day if they didn’t learn anything new. Clayton loved to laugh and have good times with family and friends he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. He is survived by four children many nieces and nephews and a very special companion of 17 years, Gail Hatt. Clayton was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, one sister and two very special nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at the Woodland Cemetery, in Baileyville.
