BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – Clifford L. Lord, 84, died peacefully June 17, 2007, with his family by his side at home. He came here in 1985 from his home in Hermon. He joined the National Guard in his teens and served in the U.S. Air Force, as an airplane mechanic. He was a Mason, a Shriner and co-founder of the Hermon Skeet Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter. After he and his wife, Sylvia, moved to Brooksville, Fla., Cliff worked as a maintenance worker at several golf courses. They played a lot of golf with their Maine friends in the winter. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sylvia; a daughter, Doris Simpson of Carmel; a son, George and wife, Bonnie, of Port Richey, Fla.; a sister, Marguerite Robinson of Hermon; a brother, Dick and wife, Marise, of Springhill, Fla.; grandchildren, Angela and hus-band, Wayne Arbo, of Newburgh, Heather and husband, David DeWeerd, of Hudson, Fla., Julie and husband, Carl, of Port Richey, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Arbo, Timothy, Rachel and Sarah DeWeerd and Emma A. Woodside; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Brandford and Rita Lord; and brothers, Alvin, Wildon and Thurlo. Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. July 24, at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 12260 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613.
