CUTLER – Charles E. Davis, 80, went to heaven June 20, 2007, to be with his beloved late wife on the anniversary of their marriage. Charlie was born May 13, 1927, in Cutler, the son of Roy and Attie Davis. He lived most of his life in Cutler and spent the last three and one half years at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, while battling Alzheimer’s disease. Charlie served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. After leaving the Navy he worked as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Head of the River Baptist Church. Some of Charlie’s fondest memories were of attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and digging clams with his brother, Robert. He was loved not only by his family, but also by those who helped care for him in his final years. His family would like to thank the staff of the B-unit at the Maine Veterans’ Home for all the wonderful care they gave to Charlie and the compassion they have shown to all of us during this time. He will be especially missed by his cousin, Billy, Davis who he spent much time with on the B-unit. In addition to his wife, Erna and his parents, Charlie was predeceased by a son, Charles “Chucky” Davis II; a brother, Roger; a sister, Frances Flood; and a grandson, Daniel Charles Davis. He is survived by three sons, Brent and fianc?e, Wanda, Wendell and wife, Loraine, all of Cutler and Glenn and wife, Rene, of Carmel; two brothers, Robert and wife, Norma and Vance and wife, Arlene, all of Cutler; two sisters, Virginia Maker and husband, Caleb, of Machias and Christine Faas of Cherryfield; 10 grandchildren, Brent Jr., Crystal, Keisha, Quincy, Nich-olas, Nathaniel, Jessica, Jennifer, Jay and Trevor; eight great- grandchildren, Brooke, Alvin Jr., Kirsten, Kyle, Drew, Gage, Kade and Kash; several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at New Cutler Cemetery, Cutler. A get together for family and friends will be held afterwards at Head of the River Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to the Maine Veterans’ Home, B-Unit Activities Fund, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
