MILLINOCKET – Clifford Roger Franck, 78, surrounded by his children and in the presence of his Lord, left us peacefully and was reunited with the love of his life, Rolande, in the early morning hours May 10, 2008. Born April 1, 1930, in St. Agatha, the first of four children to Ida and Rosario Franck, Cliff was married to Rolande (Bard) July 8, 1952. They made their home in Van Buren, where they raised their five children, Bob, Carl, Mike, Judy and Velma. Cliff’s Barbershop was a welcome stop for many, whether they needed a haircut or just some good conversation. Cliff barbered for more than 50 years, and his sons said they never knew what color their hair was until they were in middle school, since Cliff was a strong believer in the crew cut. Cliff was extremely proud of his children, and instilled solid morals and values in each of them, always encouraging them to strive for success, but more importantly, to be good, honest people. His eight grandchildren were a source of happiness and pride and as he watched them mature from infants to young adults, he impressed upon them the importance of always holding tightly to the ties of family that bind us. His great-grandson was a ray of sunshine, and always brought a smile to his face as he watched “the little man” curiously explore the world around him. Special memories of times spent at his beloved camp on Long Lake, hunting, fishing and smelting, he was always game for any adventure. His bags were always packed and ready to go on a moment’s notice, as he and Rolande would frequently embark on trips to Boothbay Harbor for fresh seafood. He will be dearly missed by his sister and brother-in-law, Monique and Oreen Daigle of Fort Kent; and leaves a void in the lives of his five children, Bob and Trese (Ouellette) Franck of Levant, Carl and Marylou (Dentremont) Franck of Millinocket, Mike and his fiance, Teri Grubbs of Scarborough, Judy and Steve White of Jefferson and Velma and Clint Rudge of Millinocket. He will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Reed, Erica and Mark Bosse, Nathan, Holly, Katie and Michael Franck, Danielle White and Jenessa Willey; as well as his great-grandson, Brayson Reed. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Rolande, who died December 2006, he was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Rosario; and two brothers, Gerald and Claude “Babe.” A memorial Mass in celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, with Deacon Danny Watson presiding. Interment will be immediately after the service at Millinocket Cemetery and then, please join the family for refreshments in the basement of the church. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402 or Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Parents hold their children’s hands for a while, but their hearts forever. We love and miss you Dad/Pepere. www.lamsonfh.com
