PRESQUE ISLE – Clifton G. Foster Sr., 80, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born May 27, 1927, in Monticello, the son of William and Helen (Porter) Foster. He attended schools in Monticello and Westfield, and graduated from Ricker College, Houlton, in 1963. Clifton ser-ved in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 and was stationed in Germany. He taught high school in Wytopitlock from 1963 to 1966, and retired from the Department of Human Ser-vices as an adult social worker in 1989. Clifton was a lifetime member and commander of the Lister-Knowlton Post VFW, Caribou, for three years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Todd) Foster of Presque Isle; two daughters, Elena Howes and Mary Jane Cleary of Houlton; three sons, Clifton Jr. of Fort Kent, Floyd of Germany and Stephen of Brewer; a sister, Camilla Shult of Monticello; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Ruth Ann and John Weeks of Caribou, Gloria and Bill Autrey of Ghent, N.Y., and June and Eric Nelson of Ghent, N.Y. He was predeceased by four brothers, Perley, Glenburn, Carl and Paul. Military committal services will be held in spring 2008 at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou, with the chaplain of the VFW officiating.
