MONSON – Clifton W. Jackson, 90, died Dec. 29, 2005, at his home in Whispering Pines, N.C. He was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Monson, son of Earle and Edith Jackson. He graduated from Monson Academy and Husson College in Bangor where he was captain of the basketball team. He taught in both Greenville and Brewer. He served in World War II both in the Atlantic and Pacific for four years and 20 years in the Army Reserves. His rank was a major. He received his master’s degree from Columbia University. He became an administrator and director of guidance in the Fair Lawn, New Jersey school system. Upon retirement he moved to the Sandhills of North Carolina and became an avid golfer. A service of remembrance and military honors was held Jan. 4, 2006, at The Village Chapel, Pinehurst, N.C. Two scholarships for St. Petersburg Seminary in Russia were given in his memory by the Brockett and Bienvenu Family Endowment. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at the Monson Community Church, with Pastor Daryl Witmer and Pastor David Ray Jr. officiating. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. the next day at Hillside Cemetery in Monson. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Guilford.
