HOULTON and BAR HARBOR – Clinton Ivan Freeman, 82, died Feb. 20, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1924, at Trenton, the son of William and Gertrude (Triggs) Freeman. Clinton grew up in Bar Harbor. He left the Bar Harbor area after his family home was destroyed in the Great Fire. After living in North Carolina a brief time, Clinton returned to Maine. He lived in many communities through Maine before he settled in Aroostook County. Clinton lived in Danforth, Presque Isle and Madawaska. He moved to Houlton in 2004. Wherever he lived, Clinton left a lasting impression and strong friendships. In his younger years, he loved discussion of news and politics. In recent years, Clinton enjoyed being outside in the summer sun and helping in the garden. He will be remembered for his contagious smile. He took great pleasure in a good joke, a pretty girl or a familiar face. An annual trip to Bar Harbor to visit old friends was a high point in his life. Clinton attended the Houlton Full Gospel Assembly Church. Clinton is survived by his sister, Irene Sprague of Pittsfield. He will be sorely missed by the staff members and his fellow residents at Harmony Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his parents; and his five brothers, Myles, Roland, Herschel, Galen and Lloyd. Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home, 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jessie Drysdale officiating.
