ALTON and ELLSWORTH Clyde E. Dority, 92, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at an Ellsworth hospital after a long illness. He was born March 17, 1912, in Charleston, the son of the late Harry and Sadie (Barnes) Dority. He attended Charleston schools as a child. He worked in the construction industry throughout his life as well as volunteering for many fire departments throughout the State. In later life, Clyde was involved with the Grange at various levels and was a Past Master. He was also involved in the Masons and the Shriners. His religion meant a great deal to him as he was active in his church up until his illness. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his four children; Shirley Seavey of Bangor, Elwin and his wife, Sue Dority, of Bangor, Mary Lou Holmes of Bangor, Wayne Dority and his companion, Norma Sawyer, of Winterport; two grandsons; Christopher Dority of Florida, and Robert Dority of Bangor; two great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves various in-laws with whom he maintained lasting relationships. He is also survived by his special companion of 10 years, Olandra Lancaster of Hancock; his special cat, Smoke; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Madeline (Judkins) Dority; and four siblings. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town, where a celebration of Clyde’s life will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, with Rev. Ron Chaffee officiating. Burial will be held at the Alton Cemetery immediately following the service.
