MATTAWAMKEAG – Clyde “Lucky” Eugene Garland Sr., 71, husband of Cressa (Hamel) Garland, died peacefully Feb. 8, 2006, at his home in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born May 23, 1934, in Bangor, the son of David and Pauline (Higgins) Garland. Clyde dearly loved his family, was proud to have nine children and enjoyed his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the trombone and the harmonica, both in and out of church. Clyde loved trucks and drove trailer trucks for more than 50 years. In addition to his wife of 53 years, Cressa; he is survived by nine children, Daryl Sr. and Cindy Garland of Tennessee, Cheryl and Weldon Long of Brewer, Claudia Garland of Bangor, Rita Picard of Bangor, Clyde Jr. and Leigh Garland of Mattawamkeag, Gerald and Donna Garland of Alabama, Chester Garland of Millinocket, Lonnie and Beverly Garland of Passadumkeag, Cressa Jr. and Walter Soucie of Mattawamkeag and Tricia and Dan Cyr of Millinocket; a brother, Scott Garland of Griffin, Ga.; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, at Mattawamkeag Church of God, with the Rev. Maurice Gray and the Rev. Ronald Libby, officiating. At Clyde’s request, “Please come, and bring your truck.” Spring interment will be in Mattawamkeag Cemetery.
