NORRIDGEWOCK – Clyde Joseph Henderson, 82, passed away Feb. 7, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Unit in Waterville. He was born July 10, 1923, in Linneus, the son of Joseph and Carolyn “Carrie” Henderson. Clyde attended Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton and graduated from Norridgewock High School in 1942. On Nov. 11, 1948, he married Twaunda Wilmot in Norridgewock. Clyde joined the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1942 and served in World War II in the Pacific Region. He joined Central Maine Power as a utility helper in Norridgewock in 1946, where he worked until he was recalled by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950 and served at Camp Lejuene as a rifle range instructor until 1951. He came home and returned to work for CMP as a lineman/ground-man. He was the CMP local representative for Norridgewock and surrounding areas from 1957-1977, when he became a supervisor at the CMP call center in Augusta, until his retirement in 1984. After achieving 30 years of service, he was inducted into the CMP Old Timers Club April 20, 1976. Clyde joined the Norridgewock Volunteer Fire Department in 1946 and achieved the rank of captain and served as secretary and treasurer until his retirement in 1977. He coached Norridgewock Little League for many years. He was well known in the community as an independent electrical contractor for many years and enjoyed serving his customers. Over the years Clyde was involved with town government, serving as town selectman (1960-62 and 2003-2005). Clyde was a member of Masons Lebanon Lodge in Norridgewock for more than 50 years, serving as past master in 1958, 1967 and 2003 and became a member of Kora Temple Shriners in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Twaunda Henderson of Norridgewock; one daughter, Joanne Henderson of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Robert Henderson of Williamstown, Vt. and Scott Henderson and wife, Dori, of Norridgewock; four grandchildren, Erik, Mikayla, Katelyn and Daniel; one great-grandson, Daniel; a cousin, Mona Swimm; and a nephew, Ronald Wilson. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Wilson. Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Feb., 13, with a Masonic service 7 p.m., at Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Norridgewock Congregational Church, River Road, Norridgewock.
