MADAWASKA – Conrad Cyr, 75, died July 18, 2004, at a Madawaska nursing home. He was born March 14, 1929, in Madawaska, the son of Joseph V. and Alice (Dionne) Cyr. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post of Madawaska. Conrad worked as a farm laborer for a number of years and had also resided in Colorado prior to returning to the area in 1989. He lived in Van Buren for a while until relocating to Madawaska several years ago. He is survived by one son, James M. Cyr and his wife, Susan, of Madawaska; three brothers, Donald Cyr and his wife, Fernande, of Hartford, Conn., Reed Cyr and his wife, Verna, of Madawaska, Alderic Cyr and his wife, Betty, of Wilmington, Del.; one sister, Priscille Couture of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Joshua Cyr, Geoffrey Cyr, and James Cyr Jr.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Albenie, Nelson, Reno, and Arthur Cyr; and by one sister, Jeannette Gagnon. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in his memory to a charity on one’s choice.
