BANGOR – Deborah (Fontaine) Lucas, 57, died unexpectedly in her sleep at her home, July 16, 2004. She was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Portland, the daughter of Joseph N. Fontaine and Bette Fontaine Carpenter. She was a graduate of Deering High School and the University of Southern Maine and she was pursuing a master’s degree at Husson College. Deborah was employed as assistant treasurer for the Winterport Water District and as an accountant at Newland Nursery in Ellsworth. She was a very active volunteer in her community. Surviving are her husband, Wayne Lucas of Bangor; four children, Michelle Lucas of Portland, Kristen Walsh of Maryland, Wayne “Chip” Lucas Jr. of Old Town, Kelley Lepore of Bangor; five grandchildren, Nicholas Lepore, India Lucas, Issiah Lucas, Katherine Walsh, Abigail Lucas; brothers and sisters, Dr. David Fontaine of Pennsylvania, Michael Fontaine of Arizona, Dennis Fontaine and Jody Thomas, both of Gorham, Anne-Marie Tucker of Limerick; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Clement Thibodeau officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
