GAITHERSBURG, Md., and ASHLAND – Constance Lucille Tilley, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Wilson Health Care Center, Gaithersburg, Md. She was born May 4, 1918, in Ashland, the daughter of Harold and Rose (Carver) Tilley. She was educated in Ashland schools, Colby College and Boston University. Her field of expertise was social work, but her 30-year career was with the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department. She was assigned to the Women’s Bureau and retired with the rank of lieutenant in 1973. Constance resided for almost 40 years in Bethesda, Md., before moving to the retirement community at Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithers-burg, Md., where she spent her last years. Connie was predeceased by her parents; and by her bro-ther, Roger. She is survived by a number of cousins, including Phyllis Billing of Fort Fairfield, Donald Tilley of Forestville, Conn., and Claire Henderson of Beverly Hills, Fla.; and her loving caregiver, Anne Franklin of Garfield Plantation. There will be no services at this time. Spring interment with committal service will be at Ashland Municipal Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
