SOLDIER POND – Cora (Toussaint) Potvin passed away May 24, 2007, at Mercy Home, Eagle Lake; the town where she was born Nov. 6, 1920. Cora was one of 21 children born to Joseph and Modeste Toussaint. When Cora was 18, she moved to Connecticut, where she worked in a springs factory. Some time later, she made Biddeford her home and became a beautician. This was followed by another move back to Connecticut, where she then married August Potvin. They did not have children, but they lavished much love on many nieces and nephews. Upon their retirement, Cora and her husband returned to Maine and settled at Soldier Pond, where she continued to provide hair care and also worked at Princess Kent, Fort Kent. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, Wallagrass. After her husband’s death, she continued to live at Soldier Pond, until she moved to Mercy Home, Eagle Lake. Cora is survived by one brother, Roland Toussaint and his wife, Emelda, of Eagle Lake; three sisters-in-law, Theresa (Cote) Toussaint, Ida (Pelletier) Toussaint and Rose Toussaint; and one brother-in-law, Ernie Voisine. Along with many nieces and nephews, she leaves behind Diane (Voisine) Paradis, a most beloved niece, who was her devoted caretaker in her later years. During her life, Cora touched many people who will remember her fondly. In addition to her husband, Cora was predeceased by four brothers, Eddie, Raoul, Edgar and Willard Toussaint; and by seven sisters, Alma Caron, Aldea Martin, Delima Sutherland, Aldeline Berube, Aline Saucier, Rhea Saucier and Sylvia Voisine. Mrs. Potvin was also predeceased by eight brothers and sisters who died at birth or in infancy. After cremation, a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, at St. Joseph’s Church, Soldier Pond. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Flowers and condolence cards may be brought to the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at Soldier Pond. Family and friends are invited to attend Cora’s memorial service and burial.
