MARS HILL – Cora Young, 97, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born Aug. 29, 1909, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Benjamin and Lorena (York) Mullen. She was a member of Mars Hill United Baptist Church since 1947 and served as deaconess. She was president of Bainbridge Mission and Prayer Circle. Mrs. Young enjoyed making patchwork quilts and crocheting. She is survived by a son, Edwin Young and his wife, Judy, of Santa Fe, Texas; a daughter, Dolores Ruggiero and her husband, Merico, of Manchester, Conn.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, who have been a blessing to Cora all these years. She was predeceased her husband, Clarence Young; a grandson, Scott Young; six brothers, Vinal Mullen, Kenneth Mullen, Preston Mullen, Stanley Mullen, Clarence Mullen, and Walter Mullen; and three sisters, Alice Hatfield, Dora Mullen, and Priscilla Mullen. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Mars Hill United Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Hartley officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service at the church.
