Sept. 7, 1918 – Jan. 24, 1999 Today is the 7th Anniversary of your death, Dad. I miss you more than words can ever begin to convey. I always will be “Daddy’s Little Girl.” Each and every cast of a fishing line – fond memories of our times fishing come back to me – hoping to be the “king fisherman.” You were a true patriot to your nation and proud of your service as a World War II veteran. I have been able to retrace your steps in the Philippines – and now more than ever I have the utmost respect for what you endured. In a fitting tribute here is the quintessential American bugle call for all who have served and sacrificed for our great nation: “TAPS” – “Day is done, gone the sun from the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well, safely rest. God is nigh. Thanks and praise for our days ‘neath the sun, ‘neath the stars, ‘neath the sky. As we go, this we know. God is nigh.” You always were and forever will remain my hero. You may be gone – but your spirit, love and will continue to live within me. I love you and miss you. Your Little Girl, Ret. MSG Carolyn “Chum” V. Emery
