BANGOR – Crawford “Skip” D. Kinney Jr., beloved husband of Gayle (Woodhead) Kinney, died unexpectedly July 23, 2006, at home. He was born June 30, 1949, in Bangor, the son of the late Crawford D. Kinney and Kathleen C. Kinney of Bangor. Skip was a lifelong resident of Bangor, attended Bangor schools, Husson College and Nichols College. He was the owner of Kinney Office Systems, a company started by his grandfather in 1939, and will be continued by his son, K.C.. making it a fourth generation run company. Skip was blessed with the ability to live life to the fullest. He loved to spend good times with his family and friends whether it was traveling to Foxwoods or Aruba, the camp at Lucerne, Penobscot Valley Country Club or being with all his brothers at Captain Nick’s. Skip was an incredibly generous and loyal friend and will be sorely missed by all of us who knew and loved him, including his co-workers at Kinney Office Systems, all of whom he considered family, as well as friends. In addition to his wife, who was his best friend, traveling companion and the love of his life for 32 plus years, he is survived by his son, Crawford “K.C.” Kinney III and his partner, Heather Taylor, of Bangor; his mother, Kathleen C. Kinney of Bangor; sister, Patricia Kinney Knowles of Augusta, and her children, Frederick “Chip” I. Knowles III, of Westbrook and Amy Knowles of Barriero Millis, Mass.; brother, Robert E. Kinney and his wife, Betta Schreiber Kinney, and their daughter, Elizabeth A. Kinney, of Norfolk, Mass.; father and mother-in-law, Francis and Beatrice Woodhead of Lucerne and Stuart, Fla.; sister-in-law, Ellen Woodhead of Bangor; brother-in-law, James B. Woodhead and his children, Elysa L. Woodhead and Vincent J. Woodhead, of Brewer; and the “official office dog,” Sadie, his beautiful rescue boxer who would follow him anywhere. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Mount Hope Cemetery, State Street, Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the Superintendent’s Lodge, State Street entrance.
