OLAMON – “Crazy George” Gilks, 58, died Aug. 14, 2006, after a brief illness. He was born July 12, 1949, in Bangor the son of Franklin Alexander and Kathleen Joy (Bates) Gilks. He was a life long motorcyclist and loved to be out on his bike riding. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 11 years, Linda (Coffin) Gilks; children, William Sale and wife, Erin, of Lincoln, Jessica Joe and husband, Shane, of Lincoln, Michelle Nye of Argyle, Franklin Sale of Old Town, Kris Thurston of Brewer, Stacy Thurston of Bangor, Lisa Gilks of Colorado, George Spencer Jr. and wife, Angela, of Lagrange, Edwin Kimball and wife, Laurie, of Old Town, Chad Legere and wife, Amy, of Iowa; brothers, Arnold Gilks and wife, Pam, of Old Town, Bruce Gilks and wife, Nora, of Hermon, James Gilks of Olamon; sisters, Brenda Gilks of Brewer, Diana Cobb and husband, Rick, of Hampden, Kathleen Oxley and partner, Jessie Toleman, of Hermon; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald. Services will be private for the family. A service of Memorial Alternatives, Bangor.
