SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. – Cy W. Greenhalgh, 92, died April 21, 2007, at Sun City West, Ariz. He lived in Orono from 1949 to 1985, where he was active in municipal affairs and the Orono-Old Town Kiwanis Club. Greenhalgh graduated from the University of Utah in 1942 with a Master’s of Science in mining engineering. He worked for the Bureau of Mines in several western states, then as ballistics supervisor at the Utah Ordance Plant, Salt Lake City; research metallurgist at Remington Arms Co., Bridgeport, Conn.; manager of Old Town Pulp Products Inc., Old Town; executive director of the Maine Good Roads Association; editor of The Maine Trail; proprietor of Orono Research Laboratories; and maker of Repel insect repellent. After retiring to Arizona, Cy authored a book, “Rogues, Hoboes, and Entrepreneurs: Coping with the Great Depression,” 1st Books, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; and daughters, Lynne Smith of Acton, Mass., Jo Comeau of Smithfield, Judy Galm of Sebring, Fla., Susan Greenhalgh of Corona del Mar, Calif., and Cindy Greenhalgh of Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
