TOWNSHIP EIGHT – Cynthia L. Dowling, 54, wife of the late John W. Dowling, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 11, 1950, in Connecticut, the daughter of Rupert and Edna (Stocks) Adams. For many years, she worked at Down East Health Services. Following the death of her husband, Cynthia stayed at home, focusing on raising her three daughters. Recently, she had taken classes at the Ellsworth campus of the University of Maine, and was two semesters shy of obtaining her Associates Degree in Social Services. Cynthia enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her three daughters, Sara Dowling, Lauren Dowling, and Jennifer Reed and her husband, Patrick, all of Township Eight; her granddaughter, Erin Leigh Reed; and her canine companion, Ginger. Cynthia will also be missed by special friends, Carl Ingerson, Dana Johnston and Emly Dalton, and many friends she made in the community throughout the years. The family would like to thank Tina Kegley for helping them during this difficult time. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, with pastor Robert Maddocks officiating.
