BRADENTON, Fla. – Dan Philip Sloan, 57, died Feb. 26, 2006, at his home. He was born April 19, 1948, in Caribou, the son of Allen and the late Inez (Gamblin) Sloan. A graduate of Limestone High School in 1966, he attended Maine Maritime Academy after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of major. He was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of the University of South Florida. Dan was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Bradenton, Fla. Survivors include his loving wife, Paula (Milenke) Sloan; his father, Allen Sloan; stepmother, Joyce of Winslow; brother, David and wife, Marcia, of Mapleton; a sister, Deborah (Sloan) Libby and her husband, Judd, of North Monmouth; three daughters, Terrie Goehring and husband, Todd, Jennifer Sloan, Kristy Nichols and husband, Matt, all of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah and Jonathan Goehring, also of Sarasota, Fla.; and a stepson, Christopher Milenke of Sarasota, Fla.
