LEWISTON – Dana V. Higgins, 81, originally of Presque Isle passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord Feb. 4, 2005, at the Marshwood Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He was born March 23, 1923, in Presque Isle the son of E. Vivian Higgins and Viola (Coffey) Higgins. Dana served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from Maine Public Service after 37 years of service. Surviving him are his children, Diana M. Higgins of Caribou, Richard W. Higgins and his wife, Marion, of Rocky Mt. Va., Darla Coglitore of Bangor, Debra Weeman and her husband, Curtis, of Auburn; a half brother, M. Keith Higgins; and a half sister, Constance Parker, both of Presque Isle, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Geraldine (Shaw) Higgins; his daughter, Drene Ambrose; his brother, Reginald Higgins; and his sister, Pauline Burnett. In addition to his family, he leaves many wonderful friends and caretakers from The Meadows in Greene, and Bolster Heights in Auburn. Dana was so very fortunate to have been cared for by such compassionate people. The entire family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff of Marshwood Rehabilitation Center for the professional and compassionate care given to Mr. Higgins during his brief hospitalization. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service. In Lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to the Maine Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association. A spring interment will be held in the Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. Local arrangements are under the direction of Weston-Chandler Funeral Home, 26 West Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls.
