FORT FAIRFIELD – Daniel E. Cyr, 65, husband of Marie E. Cyr, died Friday, July 21, 2006, surrounded by his loving family, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born Aug. 26, 1940, at Fort Fairfield, the son of Hector “Cook” and Joan (Ayotte) Cyr. A lifelong resident of Fort Fairfield, Daniel attended local schools and was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church. He married Marie E. Jackson April 4, 1964, and had been employed as a meat cutter for several area businesses. Daniel had been a member of the Fort Fairfield Knights of Columbus, the Frontier Fish and Game Club and the Frontier Snowmobile Club, Fort Fairfield. Mr. Cyr will be remembered as a generous person who loved to build things for family and friends. Always willing to help, Daniel was instrumental in the construction of the Fort Fairfield Gazebo Project. He loved bluegrass music and will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather and brother. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cyr was predeceased by one sister, Carolyn Edgecomb; and a great-grandson, Tristin Michael Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mrs. Marie E. (Jackson) Cyr; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Bridget Cyr; one daughter, Michele Cyr, all of Fort Fairfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Anna Cyr of Virginia Beach, Va., Hector “Cookie” and Diane Cyr of Brewer; one sister, Margaret Ketch of Sprata, N.Y.; one granddaughter, Chelsey Webb of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Daniel’s wishes there will be no services. Those wishing to convey condolences to his family may do so at any time at their home, 179 Limestone Rd., Fort Fairfield.
