JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Daniel Scribner passed away peacefully at home Sept. 16, 2004. He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Patten and grew up there. After graduating from Calais Memorial High School in 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He then went to work for J.W. Sewell Company before going to work for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development where he worked for 40 years. Daniel was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved the Maine woods and hunting and fishing with his brothers and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Archer and Yvonne (Pinet) Scribner; and his sister, Joanna King. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Anne (Britton) Scribner; daughter, Dianna Scribner Morales and her husband, Frederic of Pensacola, Fla.; grandson, Nicolas; and granddaughter, Chandler, whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Dalton) Runnels of Maine; brothers, Warren of California, Peter (Jean) of Maine, Paul (Zoila) of Nevada, and Wade (Lynn) of New Hampshire; his aunt, Alexina Campbell of Maine; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Thanks to all the family friends that visited Daniel in these last few months. It meant the world to him. Graveside services will be held in Patten. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Community Hopice of N.E. Fla. Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
