BAILEYVILLE – Daniel W. Hastings Sr., 95, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Washington Place, Calais. Daniel was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Lubec, son of the late William and Annie (Smith) Hastings. He was employed as an electrician for Georgia Pacific for more than 43 years. Daniel was a communicant of St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville and a member of the Quarter Century Club with Georgia Pacific. He enjoyed round dancing and teaching round dancing in Florida and in Maine with his wife, Gertrude. Daniel was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 70 years, Gertrude (Robichaud) Hastings; one sister and four brothers. Surviving are his son, Daniel W. Hastings Jr. and his wife, Louise, of Gorham; a sister, Joyce Somers of Brewer; six grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass in memoriam will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, by Father Frank Morin at St. James the Greater R.C. Church, Baileyville. Burial will be after at Woodland Cemetery.
