BUCKSPORT and FRANKFORT – Darlene (Crockett) Martin, wife of William C. Martin, went home to be with her Lord April 4, 2006, while at a Bangor hospital. Darlene is resting in peace with those who have gone before her and is safely in God’s hands. She was surrounded by all her siblings, children and grandchildren through her passing. She was born Oct. 12, 1941, in Lincoln, the daughter of Linwood Crockett Sr. and Evelyn (Crocker) Crockett. Darlene fought a courageous battle with cancer and throughout her battle her loving and devoted husband, Bill was constantly at her side, even through his own health issues. Darlene leaves a legacy of compassion and love, for children and animals and will be remembered as a devoted and loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She is survived by her husband of more than 20 years, William of Bucksport; her children, Evelyn Smaha and her husband, Gregory, of Old Town, Jerry Hruby and his wife, Donna, of Frankfort, Jody Hart of Prospect and Dale Lambert of Bucksport; brothers and sisters, Linwood Crockett Jr. and Rebecca, of Middlesex, N.C., Marie Cyr and husband, Oscar, of Wendall, N.C., David Crockett of Smithfield, N.C., and Dale Crockett and wife, Beverly, of Zebulon, N.C.; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend, Laura Jones who cared for Darlene’s beloved dog, Cocoa during her illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Linwood and Evelyn; and the father of her children, Joseph Fairbrother. A service of thanksgiving for the life of Darlene will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Frankfort Congregational Church with Pastor Terri Bracy officiating. After the service all are invited for a continued time of remembrance and refreshments in the church vestry. Any cards or condolences may be sent to her husband, William C.
