PRESQUE ISLE – Darold Dean Nickerson, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at a Presque Isle health care facility. He was born April 16, 1921, the son of Fred and Clara (James) Nickerson. Darold was a devoted father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He was a printer by trade; worked for Maine Potato Growers, Inc., doing their printing for years. He was a lay minister and the pastor for 20 years at Pine Tree Baptist Church, Easton. He is survived by two sons and their wives, Wayne and JoAnn Nickerson and Dale and Linda Nickerson, all of Presque Isle; three daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Jack Stewart of Castle Hill, Cheryl and Jim Taubin of Presque Isle and Laura and Bruce MacFarline of Presque Isle; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grand-children. He was predeceased by his wife, Idella (Craig) Nickerson in 2004; a sister, Laura LaBaron; and a brother, Elwood Nickerson. Relatives and friends may call noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany Baptist Church, Second Street, Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with pastors Doug Taubin, Jack Stewart and James Ackerson officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
