BURNHAM – David A. Burpee, 64, died July 27, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Boston, Mass., following a short illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Hartland, the son of Harold and Leona (Emery) Burpee. He was educated in Newport schools and attended Newport High School. David was an Air Force veteran serving from 1957 through 1961. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked at Guilford Industries in Newport, and later he worked at San Antonio Shoe in Pittsfield for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors especially while fishing and hunting. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie A. Thayer of Hudson; two brothers, Robert L. Burpee and Donald K. Burpee, both of Plymouth; his sister, Sandra Johnston of Leesburg, Fla.; one granddaughter, Megan M. Thayer of Hudson; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
