ISLAND FALLS – David Amos Kennard, 93, died Dec. 16, 2003, at the Patten Healthcare Facility. He was born on July 15, 1910, in Washburn, the son of Elmer and Dora (Pratt) Kennard. He farmed in Mapleton, then in 1952 he moved to Island Falls where he ran the Mobil gas station. He owned the Island Falls dry cleaners, worked in Robinson’s grocery store, and retired from driving a school bus in Crystal. He is a former member of the Island Falls Masonic Lodge No. 205, AF & AM, the Loyal Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Island Falls, and the Island Falls Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred (Cameron) Kennard of Island Falls; one daughter, Sharon K. Grant of Crystal; two grandchildren, Melinda Butcher and her husband, Scott, of Madison, Wis., and Kevin Grant of Belgrade; two nephews, Everett Clay of Caribou, and Dwight Cary of Washburn; one niece, Ernestine Buckley of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by three sisters, Flora, Gracie, and Bernice; one brother, David Arnold, and his son-in-law, Burns Grant. At the family’s request there will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
