ASHLAND – David Carroll Walker, 64, died unexpectedly Dec. 19, 2003, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born March 25, 1939, in Ashland, the son of Hazen O. and Beulah (Fowler) Walker. He was a 1957 graduate of Ashland High School and was very active in his community. He was a former member of the Future Farmers of America, the Ashland Rotary Club, and a volunteer with the Ashland Fire Dept. Dave owned and operated Walker’s Dairy Farm in Ashland from 1966 to 1969. He also worked as a town constable, a salesman, and in later years was a construction laborer in the North Maine Woods. He was a former private plane pilot and had a life long love of flying and transporting sporting groups into the Maine woods. Dave was a dedicated member of the Union Congregational Church of Ashland, where he served as an organist for 50 years. He is survived by four children and their families, Heidi Walker Campbell, her husband, Scott, and their daughters, Erin, Megan, and Cora; Leda Walker and her daughter, Rachel; Hazen O. Walker, his wife, Cindy, and their sons Garret and Christopher; Brien Walker, his wife, Staci, and their daughters, Emma and Abby; his children’s mother, Lois (Craig) Walker, all of Ashland; three brothers, William Walker and his wife, Althea, of Naples, Fla.; Robert Walker and his wife, Fern, of New Castle, N.H.; Danny Walker and his wife, Nancy, of Presque Isle; many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Union Congregational Church next month at a time to be announced.
