BELFAST – David E. Hooper, 60, of Belfast, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at a Belfast Hospital. Born Feb. 18, 1944, in Ellsworth, he was the son of Kenneth and Grace Merrian Hooper Sr. David lived in Maine until he joined the Navy in 1962, where he was a Metal Smith. He had lived in Connecticut for the last 40 years. Welding was David’s profession and hobby. For many years he was a welding inspector on construction jobs. He enjoyed restoring old trucks and tractors, loved to bowl and watch old western movies. David was a volunteer fireman for the Scotland, Conn. Fire Department. He was predeceased by both of his parents. David is survived by two daughters, Linda and John Hanvsek of Dayton, and Susan Hooper and partner, Harrison “Jake” Barrows, of Eastford, Conn.; two sisters, Katherine H. and Randy Raymond of Belfast, and Deborah Forti of Bangor; five brothers, Robert M. Hooper and his partner, Lois Hall, of Morrill, Kenneth C. and Ann Hooper Jr. of Searsport, Michael A. Hooper of Solum, Dennis G. and Iris Hooper of Frankfort and New York City, and Timothy E. and Sandy Hooper of Williamstown, N.J.; four grandchildren, Shawn and Christopher Barrows of Connecticut, and Ryan and Leah Hanvsek of Dayton; several cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
