NEWPORT – David Gerald Branscombe, 66, died unexpectedly June 24, 2005, in Machias. He was born Nov. 7, 1938, in Newport, the son of Harold and Barbara (Colby) Branscombe. He graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1957, and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966. David was employed as a baker, an auto parts salesman, and a maintenance man at H.P. Hood Company in Newport. He is survived by a brother, Willard Branscombe of St. John, N.B., Canada; a sister, Judith and husband, Harold Field, of St. Albans; two nieces, Angela and husband, Roger Hartsgrove, and their son, Nathaniel, of Waterville, Melissa and husband, Nicholas Mayhew, and their daughter, Graceland, of Skowhegan; many cousins. Private burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport.
