CORINTH – David Henry Hobbs, died suddenly Feb. 16, 2007, at a Bangor area hospital. David was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Bangor, to Herbert T. and Hildreth (Bellatt) Hobbs. He spent his early childhood in Orrington with his paternal grandmother, until going to the Pineland Center in 1950. In 1968 Dave moved to Eastport, finally settling back in the Bangor area in 1977. He lived with OHI and then, in 1984, he became a resident of Commonsense Housing, Inc. Dave had also been with the Amicus Corporation since 1977, first at Penobscot Valley Industries and then employed at Phoenix Industries, until the time of his death. David loved his peace and quiet, his coffee and his daily trips to Dunkin Donuts. Living in the country suited David well. He enjoyed time outdoors alone, left to his own thoughts. He was also proud to earn his own spending money at Phoenix Industries. Dave is survived by his long time home providers, Elliott Presby and Arthur Cole, both of Corinth, Maggie Henry and her family of Eddington, the entire Commonsense Housing family; and three special people in his life, Shay Ostrow, Karen Kelly and Dr. Will Richards. He was predeceased by his parents and by his best friend, Bill Henry. There will be a time of visitation with viewing 10 a.m. Friday at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a service of remembrance and thanksgiving will be held 11 a.m. with Dr. Deborah H. Carney officiating. There will be a continued time to celebrate David’s life after the service at 15 Riverside Drive, Eddington. Interment in the springtime will be at Marston Cemetery, Orrington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Activity Fund at Commonsense Housing Inc., 15 Riverside Drive, Eddington, ME 04428.
