BANGOR – Doris Mildred Lichtenstein, 100, wife of the late Dr. Herbert A. Lichtenstein, died Feb. 18, 2007, at her home in Bangor. She was born March 5, 1906, in Eastport, the daughter of George B. and Annie (Shaw) Woodman. After the death of her husband in 1952, she worked at the Bangor Public Library for 17 years. Doris was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Women’s Guild and a former member of the Altar Guild of the church for 30 years. Doris was also a member of the Bangor Women’s Home Culture Club, Bangor Nature Club, Maine Association of Retirees and Widows to Widows Program. She is survived by nieces, nephews; a great-niece, Carole Emanuel and her husband, Barton W. Emanuel, of Camden; dearest friends, Jennifer, Travis and Ethan Bailey LaCombe, Nancy Henry, Pauline Connors, George MacDonald and Winnie Melvin, all of Bangor. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, John W. Lichtenstein, June 30, 1940. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, French Street, Bangor. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
