STEUBEN – David J. “Johnny” MacLean, Sr., 68, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 7, 2005. He was born April 1, 1936, in Lambert Lake, the son of the late Donald and Mattie MacLean. Johnny grew up in the Milbridge area. He worked around the water all of his life and for the last 30 years he worked as a local clam dealer. He was an excellent cook. Johnny enjoyed family outings, talking with the clam diggers, and spending time at home, but most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Thelma MacLean; three children, Linda Dunbar and husband, Raymond, of Corea, Scott Ryan and wife, Arlena, of Addison, and David J. MacLean Jr. of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Justin and Brittany Dunbar, Kristofer Ryan, Nicholas and Joseph Perreault, Michael Lenfestey, Frederick MacLean, and Amanda and Dustin Smarrella; six brothers, seven sisters; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters. Due to the weather, the graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home in Milbridge, officiated by Pastor George Woodward. Friends are invited to visit with the family following the service at the Steuben Fire Dept. meeting room.
