MACHIAS – Reba H. Johnson, 88, died Jan. 8, 2005. She was born Feb. 25, 1916, in Edmunds, the youngest of nine children of the late Lester H. and Amanda (Cook) Curtis. Reba spent her early childhood in Edmunds. She later moved to Lubec where she graduated from Lubec High School. On Feb. 19, 1936, she married Daniel J. Johnson. In 1957, they moved to Machias. She is survived by a daughter, Karen J. White and husband, Wendell, of Machias; granddaughters, Kyle M. Novais of Nevada and Debra J. Carter and husband, Jamie, of Pittston; grandsons, Daniel C. White and wife, Kathy, and David L. White all of Milford, N.H.; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Justin White, and Carrie, Krystina, and Katelyn White all of Milford, N.H.; three sister-in-laws, Marylyn Curtis of Lubec, Ella Curtis of Florida, and Marguerite Curtis of Oregon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Reba was predeceased by her husband, Daniel J. Johnson; and eight siblings, Frank, Vera, Byron, Elliot, Hartford, Sargent, and Lillian Curtis, and Hazel Mitchell. Per Reba’s wishes there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
