NEWPORT – David J. Wilbur, 65, died March 31, 2006, at his Mullen Road residence. He was born March 25, 1941, at Colrain, Mass., a son of Percy and Eva (Jameson) Wilbur. David attended Hartland Academy through his junior year and then joined the U.S. Air Force. After being honorably discharged he received his G.E.D. He worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna and at Dexter Shoe Company for more than 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a good friend to many and also for his love of animals. He is survived by his longtime friend and soulmate, Carolyn Jackson of Farmington; three daughters, Carolyn and husband, John Kingston, of Etna, Brenda Kimball of Dexter and Betty Conlogue of Newport; a brother, Harold and wife, Evelyn Wilber, of Pittsfield; a sister, Marion Sinclair of Corinna; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. David will also be remembered by a dear friend, Morris and wife, Bonnie Holbrook, of Corinna. He was predeceased by a son, David J. Wilbur Jr.; a brother, Carl; and sister, Betty Palmer. At his request there will be no public visitation. A graveside committal service will be held later in the spring at Corinna Village Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Hudson officiating.
