EDDINGTON – Dorothy Mae Bates, 77, died March 31, 2006, at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Smyrna, the daughter of Thomas and Marion (Rockwell) Pluard. She was a member of the Clifton United Baptist Church and a former member of the Brewer Eagles Club. Dorothy also was a Senior Companion for New England Home Healthcare. She is survived by one son, Randy Bates and his wife, Michelle, of Hampden; three daughters, Marion Taylor, Vivian and her husband, Gary Doten, all of Eddington and Sherry and her husband, Robert Albertson, of Summerfield, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Stanley Pluard and his wife, Dorraine, of Bradley; special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Perkins of Sangerville; several nieces, nephews; and a special friend, Richard Hodgkins of Lamoine. A spring graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Brewer will be announced at a later date. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Clifton United Baptist Church, Route 9, Clifton, ME 04429.
