BANGOR – David N. “Fuddy” Mitchell, 92, died Aug. 25, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 12, 1912, in Bingham, the son of Benjamin Warren and Maude Villa (Moore) Mitchell. During his early years he was a truck driver for several local freight companies that are no longer in business. He worked for Gulf Oil as a truck driver for 28 years until he retired. More recently David worked for Avis Rent A Car where he was a driver and helped with car delivery. David was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son, Herbert Mitchell, and wife, Shirley, of Hampden; two daughters, Joyce Rhoades, and husband, Vaughn, of Toms River, N.J., Gloria Kimball, and husband, Owen, of Nashua, N.H.; 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen (Oxley) Mitchell in 1988; a daughter, a sister, and a couple of grandchildren. A Service of Remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Aug 30, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex Garrett, director of Chaplaincy Services at EMMC, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., following the service. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bangor. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, Inc., 343 Gorham Road, South Portland, ME 04106.
