LUBEC – Dee Wilcox, 69, passed away Dec. 9, 2004, after a short illness, at her home in Lubec, surrounded by friends and family. She was born April 29, 1935, in Portland. Following high school, she became a drug and alcohol counselor and was employed for many years at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown, Conn. Through her life, she used her knowledge to help and mentor many people in her community who “went down the wrong path” or who just needed someone to listen. Her sense of humor and her willingness to help made her a great friend to all. She was a lady always on the go. She was active in Lubec with the Historical Society, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Lubec Women’s Guild and many youth organizations and activities. She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, two stepsisters, Beatrice and Claudia; and a special nephew, Ronnie Allan Head. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lewis Wilcox; a son, Frank Allen Wilcox and wife, Robin, of Connecticut; a daughter, Vicki Huckins and husband, Dennis, of Lubec; a brother, Frank Hagar of Portland; two sisters, Pauline Riley of Portland, and Theresa Riley of Kansas; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Crystal, Matthew, Dee-Nella and Joseph; one great-grandchild, Joshua; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; also an adopted child, “Kitty” Bradley of Middletown, Conn. Visiting hours will be held from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Christian Temple Church, Lubec. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations may do so to the family. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Lubec.
