FORT FAIRFIELD – Delbert J. Hafford, 72, husband of the late Bertha M. Hafford, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, July 15, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born April 2, 1932, at Allagash, the son of Alfred and Essie Hafford. He attended Allagash schools and was married to Bertha M. Thibodeau on Oct. 28, 1953. Delbert was employed in the farming industry and also worked for A&P and Interstate processing plant for many years. He was avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and dearly loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Bertha M. Hafford, on July 8, 1997; infant son, Jason; and infant daughter, Sherry; five brothers, Alfred, Glenn, Sam, Herman and Leverett Hafford; six sisters, Winnie, Minnie, Lizzie, Mabel, Hazel and Ella. He is survived by three sons, Rick Hafford and his wife, Tisha, Terry Hafford and his wife, Ann, all of Easton, Jeff Hafford of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Donna Hall and her husband, Wayne, of Caribou; one brother, Cecil Hafford and his wife, Jonah, of Fort Kent; one sister, Florence Davenport of Fort Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Delbert’s special friend, Joann Embelton of Fort Fairfield. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, July 18, and 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Relatives and friends are invited to join in a time of fellowship at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately following the interment service. Those who choose may contribute in memory of Mr. Hafford to Visiting Nurses of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
